How to make a 200-mile house move hassle-free

When it comes to selling homes for vendors, we like to think we make this process as stress-free as possible; one pair of homeowners who we supported with a long-distance move from Suffolk to Cheshire share their experience.

Suzy Picola and her husband Joe purchased a Redrow home at Kingsbourne in Nantwich, Cheshire, after using the housebuilder’s Help to Sell scheme to find a buyer for their previous home in Stowmarket, Suffolk.

“We decided to sell up and move northwards for a couple of reasons. The main one being that Joe is leaving the army next year after 34 years’ service and we couldn’t see us staying in our current location or house for much longer,” says Suzy.

The couple had always wanted to own and live in a detached home and wanted to live in a place with greater links to cities and the ability to visit family and friends easily, most of whom live up north.

“The Stamp Duty holiday and the rise in house prices following lockdown spurred us on to sell our house. With the demand for property purchases being so high, we were hopeful that a sale wouldn't take too long to achieve.”

After Suzy and Joe found their dream three-bedroom detached home, Property Perspective were instructed by Redrow to sell the couple’s existing three-bed townhouse on their behalf.

After completing the valuation, taking photos and measurements for marketing material, Property Perspective’s in-house valuer Scott Windle handed over to account manager Lee Revill, who guided the couple through the process from that point on.

That way, they could secure their desired home with Redrow and not lose it to another buyer during the process.
