NEWLY promoted trainee account manager Zeenat Akhtar credits the last 18 months for enabling her to grow and become more independent in her role.
The 22-year-old from Manchester, who is currently saving for her first home, joined Property Perspective in 2019 after leaving a role in digital marketing to pursue a career in property.
Her new role will see her become a main point of contact for housebuilders and their customers throughout the whole process of selling their existing homes, something that working throughout the pandemic has prepped her for.
Tell us more about your role…
My previous role as assistant account manager saw me supporting the account management team. Now, as trainee account manager, I’ll be the one liaising with several of our housebuilder clients, vendors and their buyers to ensure everyone is kept up to date throughout the transaction.
We make the process as stress free as possible for the customers selling their homes and communicate with them throughout to make sure the sale of their homes goes through as quickly as possible.
How have you found the last year and working through a pandemic?
It’s been challenging at times, but we can only be thankful as the housing industry did receive a lot of support. Also, because I was facing new challenges, I actually found myself becoming more confident in my role.
What changes have you had to adapt to while working through Covid? Has your role changed in any way?
It became much more important to reassure everyone involved in the house sale transaction, especially with all the restrictions and changes to the industry. At Property Perspective we needed to ensure that we provided the appropriate guidance and advice in any situation that the vendors or buyer might experience. When the lockdown restrictions were introduced we were quick to introduce new procedures to make sure everyone involved in the transaction was safe and we were complying with government guidelines.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Managing to get properties over the line to completion is very satisfying. Also the team I’m part of, as we get along so well. I know if I have any issues, queries or potential problems with my work I can ask anyone and they will help me find a solution.
Do you have any tips for homeowners looking at moving home in the coming months?
I’d definitely recommend people to consider moving now. With lockdown I understand people have had time to think about whether they are happy in their current home or whether something different would suit them better. As the restrictions continue to lift, there is no better time for people to get their house on the market. Even though we have seen unprecedented levels of activity over the last year and a half, the housing market continues to be very busy and there is still a lot of demand from buyers out there.
What do you think the next year or so has in store for the property industry?
The property industry is going to be constantly changing but now the stamp duty holiday has ended, the pressure to get properties sold and the transaction completed before the deadline has gone. This does reduce the pressure on everyone in the chain and helps my workload to be a bit more relaxed.
